Some of the best IWW organisers worked at Boulder. J. B. King, Charlie
Reeve, Mick Sawtell all played their part. It was one of the very few
places in Australia where the IWW tried to organise as a separate
functioning union in direct competition with the "crafties". Unfortunately they reached a position strong enough
for the bosses to have to take them seriously but not strong enough to
effectively protect their membership from descrimination. It was one of
the first Locals to fold as the main part of the active membership
undertook instead the tactic of "entrism" or what we should probably
call today "dual card membership".
