Tramway Strike in Perth (1919)

Tramway Strike in Perth W.A. written for Solidarity by E. Raitch.

"Like a voice crying in the wilderness, the voice of Fellow Worker Mick Sawtell has been heard, giving the workers the right dope, and pointing out the line of action which should have been adopted.

As, for instance, on Friday night, 10th January, when he told the motor men that they would have got a rise within twenty-four hours, and any other concessions they might have demanded, if they had gone back to work, taking the cars out in the ordinary way, but have left a dozen or so strewn round the streets en route.

Tip top advice was also given to the conductors, who were told to forget to collect the fares or issue chits.
